NANTAHALA LODGING AND CAMPING

THE NANTAHALA RAFTING CENTER

Our bunkhouses at the Nantahala provide an affordable lodging alternative for groups of various sizes who come to raft with us. Some groups stay one night and others stay for a full week. Nestled in the trees behind our rafting center, the bunkhouses offer a unique opportunity for our groups to “sleep cheap” with rates ranging from $10 to $12 per person per night.

Our dormitory style bunkhouses can sleep up to 60 people. They are divided into smaller sleeping rooms with built-in bunk beds. A full service kitchen and an oversized gas grill outside makes food preparation simple for groups of any size. A large and accommodating shower house is adjacent to the bunkhouses. The bunkhouses are heated and cooled by Mother Nature so sleeping gear appropriate to the weather conditions should be brought by our guests.

While we are located in the Nantahala Gorge, we are only 15 minutes from downtown Bryson City where you will find grocery stores and fast food establishments.

Volleyball, horseshoes and hiking trails keep our guests entertained between rafting trips. At night, groups congregate around a large campfire in front of the bunkhouse. Over the years, Rolling Thunder’s bunkhouses have been a popular choice for numerous church retreats, Scout outings and family reunions. Our guests know that they can expect clean, comfortable, well-kept grounds and facilities.

Our campsites at the Nantahala have pea gravel tent sites, picnic tables and campfire pits. They are conveniently located near the bathhouse which has hot showers. The camp sites are located around the perimeter of the campground so that your tent will remain shaded during the day
