Rolling Thunder River Company takes immense pride in creating a great summer experience for our employees. Since 1977, Rolling Thunder has safely rafted thousands of river miles, thrilled tens of thousands of guests and acquired years of professional experience in this exhilarating outdoor recreation industry. We strive to provide a fun, spirited work environment for our employees and in return we expect them to be totally focused on the overall comfort and safety of our guests. Employees must be at least 18 years of age and there's no such thing as being too old to be a Thunder employee as long as you are deemed capable of doing the job. We look for intelligence, humor, friendliness and attention to detail in our employees. Our goal is that every one of our guests returns from their river trip not just satisfied but excited and already planning their next trip with us. Smoking is not permitted anywhere around our guests. Rolling Thunder is a family owned and operated business. Rolling Thunder is a drug-free workplace.
We do not require guides to be experienced when they come to us. We will provide training to enable you to develop the necessary skills and teamwork needed to guide a safe and enjoyable commercial rafting trip. Senior guides will act as mentors and evaluators during your training period during which you will develop your "river sense". Training is unpaid but at no cost. Upon completion of your training, we expect you inspire confidence and provide encouragement when needed - on and off the river. The job of river guide can be physically and mentally demanding at times. It is a lifestyle that requires a great love for the outdoors and tremendous respect for the river. Rolling Thunder guides are paid a competitive wage and they also earn tips. Camp like housing is available for our employees. You may have a roommate and pets are not allowed.
Office and Reservation Assistants
Rolling Thunder's office and reservation assistants are often the first contact for our guests. It is crucial that you be enthusiastic and knowledgeable in order to facilitate their trip plans. A good telephone voice is essential. Basic computer skills are necessary. You are expected to be punctual and dependable. You must be able to effectively handle a hectic pace in the office while giving cheerful, tireless service to our guests.
